43. Fishbone - Part 1 (w/ Poindexter)
We're going to party like we're trolling Celine in 2021! Checkered Past begins the long awaited deep dive into the legendary Fishbone! To help out, they welcome Kenny and Justin of Michigan-based Ska band Poindexter. First, the Poindexters discuss their Checkered Pasts, the culmination of their new album on Ska Punk International and the changes in the Ska scene. Then, Celine, Rob, Justin and Kenny dig in on the 80s era of Fishbone from their way ahead of its time debut ep, to the scattershot album In Your Face to the cult classic Truth and Soul. All the while discussing the challenges they had of being an all black band in a white dominated scene.
Poindexter
Michigan-based ska punks Poindexter have announced that they’ve signed to Ska Punk International. The band have also released their first single on the label called “Body Like That”. The song will be on their upcoming album which will be out in 2023. Poindexter released their single “Serendipity” in 2022 and their self-titled EP in 2020
